#PETERSON STROBE TUNER MODEL 450 HOW TO#And anyone who's ever taken the time to learn how to use a strobe tuner finally discovers what being *really* in tune feels and sounds like. What Peterson has done is create tuners that offer a standard strobe tuner in a smaller, lighter package than ever before (they even have a clip-on!). Musical notes, especially stringed instruments, are not even-tempered. Every guitar player that has had to re-tune her B-string knows what I'm talking about. Problem is.and it's a problem that folks argued about in Bach's day.they can only tune to an even-tempered scale. The new clip-ons are convenient, small, and dead-on accurate. There are tons of cheap tuners out there. And everyone, audience and performer alike, enjoys an evening of in-tune instruments. But moving around will always send one in need of at least a touch up. My response is always, "As little as possible, but as much as needed."Ī good instrument will hold tune better than a poor one. The first question I get asked by newbies and old dogs alike is "how much time do have to spend tuning before a show?" Not an unreasonable query when there's a hammer dulcimer, a piano, an autoharp, a fiddle, a banjo, and at least one guitar on stage. The result of all this? I have control over how I sound, the audience gets to hear what I hope they hear, the sound person looks and sounds like a genius, and everybody's happy. At festivals this is especially important, as there are usually no soundcheck times allotted. So once we get the guitar sounding great the soundcheck on my instruments is, essentially, done. Everything in my effects unit is EQ'ed relative to the guitar. The direct box is where the sound person connects all my sound to the house system.Īll of the above is designed so that, when I do a soundcheck, we can generally tell the sound person to run my instrument channel "flat," and, 9 times out of 10, the guitar sounds great. This allows me to mute the signal when I'm plugging in, unplugging, and tuning.Ħ) I also have a tuner plugged into the volume pedal which allows me to tune on stage, even when the volume is off.ħ) From the volume pedal a cable runs to a direct box (DI). The insert then sends the effected signal back into the same channel of the mixer.Ĥ) I can switch to the desired pre-set for each instrument via a MIDI cable which runs from the back of the effects unit to a pedal on the floor at center stage (see photo under "Pedals" in the Gear section here).ĥ) From the "Out" of the mixer a cable runs to a volume pedal on the floor at center stage. Sometimes multiple ones for each instrument (I use this in "Pastures of Plenty" and "Leviathan" on the hammer dulcimer, for instance). reverb, octaving, digital delay, etc.) for each instrument. This makes it part of everything that is to follow.ģ) The mixer has inserts that allow me to send the signal to a multi-effects unit in order to create a customized tone control and effects (i.e. It is plugged into a 2nd channel of the mixer. NOTE: My hammer dulcimer is not wireless. This allows some pre-amplification, overall EQ control, and metering.so I can see if the mixer is receiving signal and how hot it is. #PETERSON STROBE TUNER MODEL 450 PLUS#It means the sound person doesn't have to have 3 identical mics (and separate channels for each), plus it simplifies the sound check.Ģ) From the wireless instrument receiver I run into my stage mixer. Because I have 3 distinct playing areas (hammer dulcimer, piano, and center position for guitar, etc.) I've found a vocal mic I like and move it to each of the performance areas. NOTE: I also use a wireless, hand-held vocal mic. I use a wireless unit with a beltpack, with the plugs fitted with a 90-degree angle so that I can use it with autoharps and fiddles and not have the plugs interfere with my playing. Plus, it allows me more movement on stage. I'm too clumsy to avoid stepping on guitar cables, etc. Stage sound, at its best, is about "reinforcement," not "amplification." So get your instruments sounding great, get pickups that let the instruments sound the way they naturally sound and.only then.start adding gear to make the person in the last row hear what you want them to.ġ) I have been wireless for many years. The first and most important steps are getting the instruments sounding exactly the way you want them to sound. I'll cover the basic set-up here and then click on to "Wireless Units," "Mixer," "Effects," "DI," and "Pedals" to get the info on the individual units. It's been the same for a number of years, but we're always tinkering with it to make it smaller, lighter, quicker to set up, etc. The most commonly asked question I get about my gear is, "What exactly are you doing to manage the sound of all your different instruments on stage?" So here it is, kids: the low-down on my set up. One very nice thing about the film is that Liesl and Pete take their young children along with them, and they seem to be perfectly adapted to the life. Not only have the caves been used in the past, but also there has been an unbroken continuity of use to this day. They have to pay up to gain entrance, and when they do get inside the cave is empty and worthless, which the local leaders find amusing. This was in direct contradiction to the criteria set down by the Dept of Rural and Community Development for local authorities to secure funding under the scheme. It was revealed earlier this month, that Mayo County Council had drawn down in excess of a million euro for the Clew Bay Greenway, despite not having started work on its construction. The end consumer also incurs transport costs since the heating oil trade needs to cover its costs and also make a profit. Below are oil prices for South of Boston High 6.099 Low 3.87 Average 4.451. Industrial fuel is known in Rotterdam as Industrial Gas Oil and abbreviated to IGO. The price of this type is determined on the Rotterdam Market in US dollars for the quantity of one tonne. The most popular heating oil in Germany is “Heizöl Extra Leichtflüssig”, abbreviated to HEL. There are several different types of heating oil, each with different properties and prices. To obtain the relevant heating oil price special calculators can be used, which calculate the price of heating oil depending on the postcode, the approximate quantity required and the number of unloading points. This is why observing the current heating oil prices for the respective region is important when purchasing heating oil. In case of bulk orders, the number of unloading points also influences the price. When purchasing heating oil, the price is also influenced by the delivery quantity ordered since discounts are often granted when large volumes of heating oil are purchased. These change constantly and can deviate considerably from the average value. This also makes purchasing heating oil and filling up increasingly expensive for average consumers.Īlthough the price of heating oil is determined as a national average price, there are strong regional price variations for consumers when purchasing heating oil. As a result, the price of oil has a strong influence on international economic development since it is urgently needed in all industrialized countries, especially when supplies are limited. However, the supply of crude oil is limited and cannot be increased endlessly, since in recent years it has become increasingly difficult to find and develop new oil reserves. Because the price of heating oil is tied to the world’s most important commodity, crude oil, emerging industrial markets such as China, India and Latin America indirectly take influence on the price of heating oil since they require more and more oil to support their economic growth and the resulting rise in energy consumption. However, because no property is the same with another, the cap rate of each comparable is adjusted based on its differences from the property under consideration.įor example, if the subject property is located at a stronger location than the comparable property then the cap rate of the comparable is adjusted downwards to derive the cap rate for the subject property. The typical methodology for deriving a cap rate for a particular property is by estimating cap rates of transactions of comparable properties (same property type and other characteristics to the extent allowed by available transaction data). Properties differ in many respects including, but not limited to, quality, size, construction quality, space layout and functionality, technological equipment, location, income earning prospects, age, location, etc. This is the case because real estate assets are highly heterogeneous. Thus, all else being equal, the cap rate calculation in the case of transactions involving high-risk NOI should result in a higher number than in the case of transactions involving low-risk NOI.Ĭap Rate Calculation for a Specific PropertyĬalculating a cap rate for a specific property is not an easy task at all. Higher cap rates are used in the case of high-risk NOI and lower cap rates in the case of low-risk NOI. For example, the NOI of a building with very short term leases (1-3 years) to tenants with poor credit has a much higher risk than the NOI of a building with long-term leases (10-20 years) to tenants with very strong credit. Furthermore, the cap rate that an investor will use to capitalize the NOI of a particular property in order to derive its value will depend on the risk associated with its income earning ability. It should be noted that capitalization rates vary across property types. Market capitalization rates are often estimated with the NOI of a building at the time of the transaction. There is a discussion whether a «stabilized NOI» concept should be used or the estimated NOI of the first year of the investment holding period. However, what is more complex in applying the above formula is the determination of the number that will be used as the numerator. What Makes Cap Rates Fall and Property Values RiseĬap Rate Compression: How Much Can they Fall?Ĭap Rate and Discount Rate: How do they Differ? The usual British equivalent is Cockney, though a Northern accent might represent the geographic and societal differences better than a dialect of the capital (and for Osaka-ben specifically, Brummie might be more accurate, being that Birmingham is Britain's second-largest city, with a gritty industrial image and a local accent with markedly different intonation patterns and pronunciation from those of the southeast Scouse may be even more appropriate, since it combines the gritty industrial image with a reputation for good humour).note Luckily (or deliberately?) enough, theres a McDonalds location right next door to the Apple Store in Osaka, so hapless visitors from outside Kansai wont get too lost if they ask a local where the nearest Mac is.įor a good explanation of Kansai-ben versus standard Japanese, see the following page.ĭepending on the country, preserving these dialects through translations and dubs can be tricky. Referring to the McDonald's fast-food chain as " Makudo", and regarding the term " Makku" exclusively as a computer brand. As traditional dialectal forms mutate or die off, some modern youth use forms such as sugee, which is Kanto/Tohoku pronunciation for sugoi. In specific Kansai dialects (Wakayama, Kobe, Osaka, etc.) words like gottsu (Osaka dialect) may be used. Using meccha (not that mecha, the "ch" is soft like "Charles") instead of totemo as an intensifier.(In standard, using yaru in this way towards equals is considered rude.) -taru (shortening of -te yaru) for -te ageru E.g., Yondaru ("I'll read it for you").Saying se ya na instead of so da ne OR so da na' OR so ne ("I know, right?" "I agree." "totally").It is also used as -tara akan ("must not do") and -na akan ("must do"). Using the word akan instead of dame ("No way").In real life, some dialects just have their own word for this. The stereotype is that baka is a much more serious insult to a Kansai native, and is rarely used by one except in deadly earnest, akin to a Precision F-Strike. Using the word aho instead of baka ("idiot" "silly").The use of the wa sentence-final particle by all age and sex while it is used mainly by women in standard. The use of the -haru ending as an intermediate between plain style and the formal Keigo style. The use of the -hen ending, instead of -nai or -arimasen, as in wakarahen versus wakaranai (lit.(Instead of "doshita?", a Kansai speaker will ask "donaishita?") (See: Shizuru in My-HiME, Konoka in Negima! Magister Negi Magi, and Akesato in Peacemaker Kurogane, amongst others.) This is possibly due to the fact that Kyoto-ben is softer, and thus sounds more feminine. Recently in anime, Kyoto-ben has been reserved as a primarily female dialect. The Kyoto dialect has its roots in the courtly dialect from before the capital of Japan moved from Kyoto to Edo (later renamed Tokyo). The comedy routine consists of the Boke, who generally says stupid things, and the Tsukkomi, who corrects the Boke though physical devices, such as a rap on the head.Įven though it is also part of Kansai-ben, Kyoto-ben, otherwise known as hannari, is generally a much softer dialect. Recall, for instance, the scene in Azumanga Daioh where Tomo learns that the new transfer student is going to be from Osaka, and wonders if she'll have an incredible tsukkomi. Osaka-ben speaking comedians are common in Real Life and in anime, and the Boke and Tsukkomi Routine has its roots there. These days Osaka-ben is generally used to indicate a fun loving, impatient, loud, boisterous personality. Osaka-ben (Osaka dialect) used to be the stereotypical villain accent until Osaka comedians performing with their accent became popular in the nineties. |
